HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, BEAUCHAMP AVENUE, LEAMINGTON SPA

Adrian Moore launches 11th series of free lunchtime concerts in Holy Trinity on Friday, 27 April. He will be giving a half-hour harpsichord recital at 1.15pm.

Former Warwick schoolboy Adrian is now in his 21st year as organist at Holy Trinity.  He read Music at Bristol, becoming an ARCO (Associate of the Royal College of Organists) in his second year there. After gaining his BA Mus, he continued his studies in Manchester, taking a performance course in organ and harpsichord. He returned to his home town in 1986 and set up his teaching business and later the same year he became an assistant organist at Holy Trinity. Three years later he became the organist and choirmaster.

Well known in the area as an organist and accompanist, he was recently elected president of the Coventry and Warwickshire Organists Association.

He has undertaken several assignments overseas.

He launched his first series of lunchtime concerts because he wished to extend his own repertoire and played for most of the concerts himself, but, over the years, the venue has become increasingly popular with visiting artistes and this year Adrian will only be giving two of the ten recitals.

The concerts are free but donations are welcomed for the church’s organ fund. Additionally, as Holy Trinity is celebrating it’s 160th anniversary, the church will be open from 12 noon, allowing visitors to relax beforehand and enjoy some refreshments.

As part of Holy Trinity’s 160th anniversary celebrations, local poet Julie Boden will launch a Poetry Writing Workshops in Holy Trinity Church.  The first will be held on Saturday 28 April from 10 am to 12 noon.  There will be no admission charge but donations will be welcomed. The aim is to trigger people’s imaginations and that they would be inspired to just go into the church any Saturday morning and to make notes. The church is open each Saturday morning and Fairtrade tea and coffee is always available.

Julie Boden, a former Birmingham poet laureate, is currently poet-in-residence at the Birmingham Symphony Hall will also be holding a workshop for Milverton Junior School on 8 May and on Wednesday, 6 June there will be an evening of Poetry and Music in Holy Trinity  This will feature her successful poem cycle ‘The Amorous Organ’. Tickets £5 each; concessions £3 are available in the church on Saturday mornings.
